GLW2206 : Giving Two Hoots

Sunday 27th February 2022

It seemed like there was something of a battle going on at Plantation Bridge.  On the right is a house called “Two Hoots”.  On the left is a business called Freedom Thinking.  Was the advertised Human Resilience Training intended for those about whom the owners of the right hand side house can’t give Two Hoots?

It didn’t bother us.  We soon turned left up a farm track that led through green, boulder strewn fields.  It was a lovely day with good views of Reston Scar and beyond to the Lakeland Hills.

An ancient lane took us down to meet the Dales Way near the Staveley Level Crossing.  We followed it south alongside the River Kent......

..... as far as Cowan Head where we turned right onto a track offering views to the Howgills.

This led us over to Winter Lane where the crocii were starting to take over from the snowdrops.

.

Soon we were back at Two Hoots.

It was then that the train went by, approaching the Staveley crossing.  What did the engine driver do?  He sounded the warning of his approach to cars seeking to cross.

He gave Two Hoots!
