GLW1901
: Stan, Ollie, Jenkin and Robin
Saturday
2nd February 2019
You
have to grab the chances when you can. Or at least,
we do. Here was the opportunity not only to enjoy
a meal and film deal at Zefferellis but also to have
a Great Little Walk beforehand and a stop-over in Ambleside
afterwards.
Margaret
wanted to get her feet into snow but something not too
strenuous as she has been out of training for quite
a while. We decided on a slimmed down version
of Thursday's BOOTboys
outing- BB1905.
We
left the car at the Ambleside Townhouse where we would
be staying the night and headed up to Jenkin's Crag
then along Robin Lane to High Skeghyll. After a peep
at Low Skeghyll, we returned by more or less the same
route as we had come.
The
ground underfoot at times was icy and we were glad to
have had the microspikes with us.
Weather
good and views excellent.
On
returning to the Ambleside Townhouse, we enjoyed yet
another fine Lake District view. This time of
daffodils fluttering by the side of the lake. Strangely,
however, the lake was Ullswater not Windermere. It
was the wall paper. The view out of the window
of this "superior" room was less photogenic.
The fire escape, the staff entrance and discarded
advertising panels.
In
fact those outside looking in had a far better view
than those inside looking out!
Our
visit to Zeffs was a success. Margaret didn't think
I would like the Stan & Ollie film but somewhat
to my surprise I did. And vice-versa. And
we both enjoyed our meal afterwards.
We
set off home the next morning motivated to grab another
chance to get away as soon as we can but we won't be
staying at the Townhouse again!
