GLW2115 : Over Staveley

Tuesday 30th March 2021

The original intention was to venture further up the Kentmere Valley.  However when we discovered the phone signal was non-existent this quickly changed.

We parked in Staveley, .....

.....crossed the river.....

..... and walked up Hall Lane.....

..... until we found a bench on which to sit and have coffee and a buttie.  Opposite us was Black Crag and off to the right we could see Williamson's Monument on Hugill Fell.

As we walked on, the Kentmere hills started to appear although Ill Bell still had a bit of cloud left on top

At the junction we turned right and right again, this time with Brunt Knott and Potter Fell overlooking us.

There had been few people out but, to our surprise, for the second time recently we encountered Jean B and her friend making a similar circuit in the reverse direction.  It is a good one.  Easy walking and lovely views.

A little further on is a small tarn and a large heron.

The road soon started dropping down towards the river and back to Staveley.  Good phone reception all the way and no calls!
