GLW1304: A
Round At Royal Crook?
Wednesday
13th March 2013
It
was a cold but beautiful day. We parked by All
Saints Church,
Underbarrow, for a slimmed down version of BB1302.
No Brocken Spectres today, though. Essentially
it was encirculation of (rather than a round at) Royal
Crook Golf Course (otherwise known as Beckside) although
we saw little of it.
After
passing the Old School House, we headed west across
to Broom Lane then up by the woods, stopping for lunch
in full sun and out of the cold northerly wind en-route.
The
track from Low Fold took us above the golf course and
down to the back lanes. After Low Cragg, we followed
Chapel Beck south, startling Bambi en-route, then past
Chapel House (is there a chapel there?) to the Vicarage,
All Saints Church and the car.
A
pleasant round, mostly in open country with excellent
long distance views, especially of the snow topped Howgills.
