9:40 555 bus from Kendal to Keswick.  Bus arrives 15 minutes late.  Can't catch clockwise boat.  Too short a time at Hawes End to warrant catching 12:00 boat.  Take gentle stroll round around Keswick.  No!  No wimping out. Let's do it! Buy wraps for lunch at Greggs.

12:00 boat from Keswick anti-clockwise round Derwent Water.  Sat in front. Strong breeze whipping up the water.  Passengers getting soaked and pretending to enjoy it!

12:40 arrive Hawes End.  Climb through woods to road to Skelgill.  Bridle path to Little End having coffee, butties and wraps en-route.

Margaret particularly keen to identify Ard Crag and the hills mentioned in "Towards Mellbreak" by Maria-Elsa Bragg.

14:20 arrive and explore Newlands Church.

Return by ancient footpath across fields to Skelgill.  Good progress made- possibly time for 15:40 ferry?  Let's go for it.

Race down hill and through woods.  Hear ferry arrive.  And depart.  An hour to wait.  No it isn't.  It was just manoeuvring.  Quick sprint and arrive just in time for clockwise boat for short trip back to Keswick.  Good job there was a queue.

Notice anti-clockwise boat approaching.  Board that instead. Second trip of the day around Derwent Water.  Not quite as much spray this time.

Arrive Keswick 16:20.  Too late for 16:30 555 bus for Kendal.  Have coffee and cake then, for reasons that cannot be disclosed, decide to hurry for 17:00 555 bus to Kendal.  

En-route, for reasons that cannot be disclosed, abort decision to catch 17:00.  Visit SeaSalt instead. Nothing purchased!

17:30 555 bus to Kendal.  Arrive 19:00.
