GLW091030: Glen
Tanar anticlockwise
30th
October 2009
Glen
Tanar is a good choice in almost any weather,
offerning a range of options with plenty
of forest if shelter is needed.
Normally
we do it clockwise but as rain was threatened
and we had had two long walks in the days
previous we decided instead to go anticlockwise
from the car park.
We
visited the view point then climbed to meet
the road before taking the estate track
that leads past the horses and around behind
the estate offices.
|
A
dramatic interpretation of the climb
beyond the viewpoint.
|
We
turned round at the little lake which was
looking splendid to cross over the river to
return back down the glen on the otherside.
The
sun was shining as we passed the old church,
almost tempting us to stop.
Sadly
the tree by the fine old bridge back to
the road was not as brightly coloured as
it has been in previous autumns so the picture
here is from 2003.
Inevitably
we lunched at the Black Faced Sheep in Aboyne
which was as good as ever.
