GLW091031: Craigendarroch
Hill
31st
October 2009
Jo
and Mark came over to see us from their
home at Newburgh, near Aberdeen. They brought
with them their incredibly well behaved
dog; one that waits for permission to leave
the car, doesn't jump up and actually sits
down of its own volition when it sees a passing
vehicle. Amazing!
The
forecast wasn't great but we thought the
rain would hold up long enough for us to
climb Craigendarroch Hill and then we would
have options.
We
pioneered a slightly more direct ascent
of the hill than might have been preferred!
On
reaching Ballater, the option we chose was
to return along the river to the Bridge
of Gairn and then back up the road to Craigendarroch.
Later
on it looked like the river had turned into
a lake as the evening mist rose over the
Dee.
