Sunday
6th May: Sorrento and Positano
- Another
early start to Positano with Antonioni + another
black Merc. Excellent drive across to
and down spectacular coast to Positano looking
atmospheric with clouds hanging. Antonioni
dropped us near shops and we made our way past
the old church and down
to beach with hundreds of tourists all funnelled
into one place.
- Enjoyed walk around coast
past the towers to the Fornelli beach. Lovely
views back to the town tumbling down the hill.
Then across main beach to Rada (Michelin
starred restaurant) at the other end. Finished
for coffee and bruschetta at cafe on beach watching
artist at work (churning out poor stuff) and
the world go by. Antonioni picked us up
at 1 p.m. and back for afternoon in SUNNY Sorento.
- After
rest, walked over to picturesque Marina Grande to check out Trattoria Emilia (Nello's
recommendation). Looked good and still
busy. No booking taken so decided to return
for early supper.
- Enjoyed lots of fish-
D. lemon sole-delish & M. a mound of sardines!
Met a very nice young America couple from
near New York.

Monday
7th May: Sorrento
- Unfortunately
a poor day weatherwise. Shopping first, mainly
for Vanessa's hand bags. Took a long time
as difficult decision!
- After
lunch- lovely bruschetta at the Blue Water?
side street near hotel, decided we were shopped
out and receptionist suggested a trip to Massa
Lubrense on the bus. An interesting trip
but when we got there the shops were shut
and the weather closing in so came straight
back down.
- Highlight
of the day was the dinner at the Basilica restaurant
(recommended by Antonioni). Opted for
4 course fish meal €40. All excellent
especially starter of marinated fish. Came
with prosecco, bottles of wine and water and
pud. Very full.
