: Beda and the Appeals
Thursday
29th October 2014
No
report has been received re last week's outing but Bryan
has provided photos with captions. The target
was Beda Fell, as can be seen from the map.
On
a production point, partly to save time and partly as
an experiment, the photos do not contain a hotlink to
a larger version. Instead most are inserted so
that if you expand your screen they will retain reasonable
clarity up to 16 times the normal size. If you
have any thoughts either for or against this method
of presentation, do let me know.

Meanwhile,
I was in Crete. Now don't get too excited about
me enjoying far better weather.
In fact it was
not that much different to that above until, of course,
the day we came home when it was how you might have
expected.
However
sunshine was not the purpose of the visit. We
were there to say hello to new grandson Odyssea. Here
he is with his big brother Alexis.

As
One Appeal Closes.....
This
is a condensed version of Ian & Martin's "thank
you" to all who supported their Beating Bowel Cancer
campaign:
The
total raised has now passed £7,000. We were
really pleased when we reached £5,000 in donations
in the middle of the very last day of cycling as we
approached John O’Groats. In truth, if that figure had
been our target we would have had less reason to encourage
further donations after we had finished the ride. However,
we have managed so far to raise a further £2,000
since that last day.
We
have been delighted with everyone’s generosity and that
such a large sum has been raised, which, if Gift Aid
is included, has now exceeded £8,250.
So
a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to what
is such a worthy cause.
The
support for our ride, with the goodwill and generosity
of so many people, made it an inspiring and unforgettable
experience which the two of us will always look back
on with very happy memories (you soon forget the discomfort!)
and if you haven’t been able to read our blog (which
also includes a photo gallery as well as media links
from our visit in early June to see Ian’s bowel surgeon,
Wyn Morgan, at Royal Lancaster Infirmary), we would
urge you to do so- just click on LEJOG-
Now it's Behind Us.
We hope it gives you a flavour of our adventure as well
as being an enjoyable read.

Another Opens
On
Saturday 8th November, Philip sets out on his expedition
to support the villagers of Khiraule in Nepal. This
was described in some detail in BB1437
but to find out more click on:
Khiraule: The Tale and the Trail
where
you will find two pages. One tells you more about
the Tale of the village school and also about
the floods. The other describes Philip's Trail
and will be updated regularly so you can follow his
progress.
If you would like to support Philip in raising funds for
Khiraule, click on MyDonation.
