GLW1105 Easedale

Thursday 28th April 2011

It came as something of a surprise to discover that Margaret had never visited Easedale Tarn so that had to be put right.  So on a bright sunny day just after Easter (which was very late this year) we parked at Grasmere (on the road east of the river at the north end is free!) and joined a large number of people of all ages and sizes on the path up to Sour Milk Gill and the tarn.

Only a few folk actually both to go round the tarn, possibly because the map shows it as rather boggy.  Not today, however.  The dry spell had left only a few damp patches.

We returned by the eastern path which cuts over into Far Easedale and past the Manchester Grammar School barn.  Happy memories of camping there in my early school days and also of a post school visit, in, I think, my Morris Minor, up a very stony track.  No wonder the subframe collapsed soon afterwards!

We carried on down to Grasmere, picking up a washing photo on the way and concluded with a well deserved ice cream!
