BB2406 : You Can Call Me AI

Friday 16th February 2024

A man walks down the street

He says, "Why am I soft in the middle, now?

Why am I soft in the middle?

The rest of my life is so hard.........

Do you remember this from the Graceland album?  And the chorus:

If you'll be my bodyguard

I can be your long lost pal

I can call you BOOTboy

And BOOTboy when you call me,
you can call me Al

Who realised that Paul Simon could be so prescient?

This BOOTboy did call and here is what AI wrote about our adventure today.

Tony wiped the steak and ale pie remnants from his mouth, his laughter booming through the cozy atmosphere of the Eagle and Child in Staveley. "That was a magnificent pie! Best I've had in ages."

Mike nodded in agreement, his mouth full. "Absolutely. A perfect way to end our trek."

Robin stretched his legs out and groaned in satisfaction. "I can't believe we walked so many unfamiliar footpaths, crossing the River Kent at Hag Foot, climbing alongside the stream to Frost Hole, then descending to Spring Hag wood. It was a great adventure."

John PL, a now retired BOOTboy, leaned back and grinned. "It's always an adventure with you lot."

As they chatted, Stephen slipped into the pub. "Ah, I see you've survived your trek."

John S, one of the original 1973 BOOTboys, clapped Stephen on the back. "They missed you today, mate."

Stephen chuckled "I'll join them next time. But for now, I think I'll indulge in some of that magnificent pie."

Together, they laughed, recounting their journey, filling the air with joyous hums and contented moans before planning their next adventure.

After a few beers, AI had a second attempt.

Don, Mike, Robin, and Tony, avid hikers and self-proclaimed BOOTboys, embarked on a journey from the Eagle & Child in Staveley. The unfamiliar footpath led them across fields to Cowan Head.

As they crossed the River Kent at Hag Foot, the water rushed below like a persistent hum. They climbed up alongside the stream to Frost Hole, their breaths heavy like the rustling leaves around them.

The descent through Spring Hag wood filled the air with the soft crunch of twigs and leaves underfoot.

As they returned to Staveley, they stumbled upon John, John, and Stephen at the Eagle and Child. Laughter filled the room as they exchanged tales of their adventures. "Magnificent steak pie!" exclaimed Tony, causing a chorus of moans and hums of agreement.

After their hearty meal, they followed a stream up to a serene spot, where the sound of the water echoed off the rocky cliffs.

"This place is incredible," remarked Robin, awestruck.

Just as they were about to climb to the summit, a loud scream pierced the air. They rushed to investigate and found a lost hiker stranded on a steep incline. Working together, they managed to rescue the hiker, their adrenaline still racing as they made their way back down. In the end, the day had been an adventure filled with laughter, unexpected challenges, and the deep bonds of camaraderie.

And that, my friends, is the future.  BOOTboy reports written by Artificial Intelligence (but you can call it AI).  We won't even need to walk anymore; we can just go straight to the Eagle and Child!
